Seoul Sky Observatory Guide: The Best Panoramic View of Seoul from Lotte World Tower

Seoul Sky Observatory at Lotte World Tower.

After living in Seoul for more than 30 years and showing countless international friends around the city, one attraction consistently receives some of the most enthusiastic reactions: Seoul Sky Observatory at Lotte World Tower.

Seoul has many famous viewpoints, including Namsan Seoul Tower and Bugak Skyway, but when it comes to breathtaking panoramic views of the entire city, Seoul Sky stands in a league of its own.

Located inside South Korea's tallest building, the observatory offers spectacular views of the Han River, Gangnam, and the sprawling Seoul skyline. If you visit around sunset, you can experience daytime scenery, a colorful sunset, and sparkling city lights all in one visit.

Here's everything you need to know before visiting Seoul Sky.

What Is Seoul Sky?

Seoul Sky is the observation deck located on floors 117 through 123 of Lotte World Tower, the tallest building in South Korea.

Standing approximately 555 meters (1,821 feet) tall, Lotte World Tower dominates Seoul's skyline and has become one of the city's most recognizable landmarks.

On clear days, visitors can enjoy views across the entire Seoul metropolitan area and even see as far as Incheon.

The Elevator Experience

One of the most memorable parts of visiting Seoul Sky begins before you even reach the observatory.

The ultra-high-speed elevator travels from the lower levels to the observation deck in roughly one minute.

The elevator features immersive multimedia displays that make the ride feel like an attraction itself.

Many of my international friends were surprised by how entertaining the journey to the top was.

Highlights You Shouldn't Miss

1. Han River View

The Han River is one of Seoul's defining landmarks, and Seoul Sky offers one of the best views of it.

From above, you can see the river winding through the city while dozens of bridges connect different parts of Seoul.

Sunset is particularly beautiful.

2. Sky Deck

The Sky Deck is one of Seoul Sky's most famous attractions.

This glass-floor observation area allows visitors to look directly down toward the city below.

If you're afraid of heights, it can feel a little intimidating, but it's also one of the most popular photo spots in the tower.

3. Seoul Night View

If I had to recommend one reason to visit Seoul Sky, it would be the nighttime view.

As darkness falls, thousands of lights illuminate the city.

Skyscrapers, apartment complexes, and bridges create a spectacular urban landscape that many visitors compare to famous city skylines such as New York and Tokyo.

4. Seokchon Lake View

Directly below Lotte World Tower sits beautiful Seokchon Lake.

The lake is especially famous during cherry blossom season in spring, when the walking paths become one of Seoul's most popular photo locations.

Best Time to Visit Seoul Sky

This is my personal recommendation.

Why?

Because during a single visit you can enjoy:

  • Nighttime skyline views

It's easily the most rewarding time of day to visit.

Final Thoughts

After decades of living in Seoul and introducing the city to friends from around the world, Seoul Sky remains one of the attractions I recommend most confidently.

Few places allow you to experience Seoul from so many perspectives in a single visit—daytime cityscapes, golden sunsets, and dazzling nighttime views.

If it's your first trip to Seoul, consider pairing a visit to Gyeongbokgung Palace and Bukchon Hanok Village during the day with Seoul Sky in the evening.

Together, they provide a wonderful contrast between Seoul's traditional heritage and its modern skyline, offering one of the most complete experiences the city has to offer.
